When a beautiful interior is not enough: Why functionality is as important as design?
Most people prioritize aesthetics when furnishing their home. "I want it to look modern and stylish." But what if living in a beautiful interior is uncomfortable for you?

Where does design fall short?
For example, in a bedroom where there isn't enough storage space, and everything ends up on the floor. In a beautiful living room with a luxurious white sofa that's uncomfortable to sit on and shows everything.
In a catalog-like kitchen where there's not enough counter space.
How to connect aesthetics and functionality?
Think about movement in the space. You need easy access to things, not constantly having to navigate around them. Therefore, it's a good idea to map out your anticipated daily movement in the plan of each room. From where to where and for what will I most often go? Where will storage be needed? Where will we put the keys? Where will we charge electronics?Every item should have its designated place, which should also be within reach.
And most importantly, don't forget that hidden storage spaces can work wonders and there's never enough of them.
Lighting is also key. It affects not only the atmosphere but also the functionality of the space.
Not only can colors and materials look different in various lighting, but a lack of it can also create an overall uncomfortable environment. Without sufficient lighting, cooking in the kitchen is difficult, reading in the study strains the eyes, and unpleasant shadows form in the living room.
Light also affects mood. Warm light adds coziness, while cool light enhances concentration. Poorly chosen intensity and color can subconsciously be distracting.
Therefore, plan lighting to match the design and function of the space. And don't forget to combine main, supplementary, and ambient lighting.
